The Twilight Zone (2019)

Jordan Peele's 2019 reboot of Twilight Zone, as of now, was the last revival of Rod Serling's classic TV series. Just like the 2002 Twilight Zone before it, Peele's Twilight Zone was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Bill Terezakis handled the series' special makeup effects, as part of WCT Productions. Terezakis himself had worked under Toby Lindala at various points, with Lindala having previously supplied makeup effects to the 2002 iteration of the series.

The episode 'A Traveler' utilized puppetry for when Steven Yeun's character transforms into an alien; the puppet was designed to resemble Yeun's face but with glassy Grey-like eyes. The puppet could be operated to stretch the neck, as if Yeun's body was elongating on camera.

Further puppetry and prosthetics were required for when Yeun's alien, fully transformed, eats some pie in a close-up shot.

According to the Variety article 'How Practical Puppeteering Aided in Pivotal ‘Twilight Zone’ Reveal', this was achieved with a hand puppet operated off-camera by Sandy DaCosta, with prosthetic makeups applied to Keith Arbuthnot. The prosthetic was flexible enough that Arbuthnot could actually eat the pie slice on camera.

For the episode '8' which revolved around an intelligent octopus, Terezakis' team had to construct a puppet for the actors to interact with; though the final episode had a lot of computer-generated VFX obscuring the puppet.
Terezakis' team were tasked with reimagining the Kanamits for the episode 'You Might Also Like'. The basic design adhered to William Tuttle's original makeup design on Richard Kiel all the way back in 'To Serve Man', but with some alterations.

The major difference was the grey paintjob, making light of how the original series was in black and white. Terezakis' updated makeup design also included a wrinkled brow appliance in addition to the enlarged cranium, giving a more wizened appearance.

A new Kanamit makeup was also designed for Sheyi Ryane to wear as the Kanamit Queen. This new one consisted of the enlarged cranium appliance, but not the brow appliance to keep Ryane's looking glamourous in comparison. The bushy eyebrows stayed, though!
There wasn't enough time or money to make individual appliances for all the Kanamit performers, so Terezakis had several pull-over latex masks fabricated for the extras to wear. The pull-over masks can be seen in background shots.
